GET TO KNOW ME!
Welcome to the site! My name is Sahur Augsteen and I am currently attending Southern Methodist Univerisity in the Aspiring Leadership Program working to earn my Masters Degree in Urban Educational Leadership. I earned my Bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'em) in which I majored in Applied Learning and Development (EC-6) with a minor in ESL. Teaching runs in my family and it is what I have wanted to do since I was a little girl. From seeing such strong women in my life being so dedicated to this profession, I have nothing but respect and admiration for both teaching and being a student. Both my grandmother and mother were teachers so I am honored to have the opportunity to be an educator myself.
As a teacher for the past 3 years in both 1st and 3rd grade, I have been blessed to have the privilege of working at a Math and Technology Center. I have seen the importance that technology integration plays in early education programs. Focusing on hands-on STEM education, data-driven instruction, and a classroom centered around SEL has helped me to achieve great success as a classroom teacher. In addition to that, I have had the privilege to work alongside exceptional staff, teachers, and administration who have shown me the glimpse of impact which I could provide outside the classroom as well. Being a life-long learner, I am beyond thrilled to be in my Master's program and look forward to learning, growing, and evolving to be the best possible servant leader I can be to the campus, students, and families which I seek to serve.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, being active in church, going fishing, running, and volunteering my time to the needs of my wonderful community! I've always been a big sports fan, you can find me cheering on the Dallas Mavericks, Cowboys, and Longhorns! As of now, I am working on my lifetime goal to complete a half-marathon!
